In the same sort of 'Aussies getting away with it' theme when overseas, in London we had a left-hook MG Midget that came in as a trade-in. It had Moroccan plates on it, like this one. Every week, someone had to go and do the banking in of all places, Threadneedle Street in the City. There were double yellow lines on both sides of this narrow lane which meant that it was impossible to park at all at all. Simple - I used to take the Midget in, prop on the lines and come out and find a very nice note from the London City Council in fifty languages that this was a no parking area. British parking tickets had seven precise boxes to put the rego numbers in - no way could they draw a sword in there. We had enough notes to wallpaper the loo.... We also got this parking ticket in Madrid; it was made out to an Australian car with a rego plate equivalent to one issued in Tasmania, and I often wondered if someone in Hobart got a bill!
