Announced at the end of 1950, they broke ground, particularly for Ford, with McPherson strut suspension, short stroke with overhead valves, passenger area moved forward so the rear passengers weren't sitting over the rear axle, monocoque bodies and they were pretty rugged to boot. The Zephyr was Australia's second best seller by 1954.
