My father worked at the Chrysler Forestville factory at Adelaide during 1959-1960 and always fancied a Vedette but didn't get one until we moved to New Zealand where Australian-assembled Vedettes were also sold. He had access to 'overseas funds' and was therefore able to buy one. (NZ had very tight import controls in those days.) The photos you show are not of Australian Vedettes. They are of the more opulent Vedette Chambord. We in Australia only got the Beaulieu with the side chrome and flash as shown in the drawing advertisement. While Vedette assembly in Australia ended in 1962, full manufacture continued in Brazil until 1969 but with considerable and disastrous front and rear styling modifications and a bigger V8. The final few years saw it sold there as the Simca Esplanada. Here is a photo of a 1961 Australian Vedette Beaulieu and a 1969 Brazilian Vedette Esplanada.
