Hi again David, Before coming to Australia, Leo Pruneau was principal designer of the Vauxhall FD Victor/Ventora range of vehicles in the UK. The Vauxhall Ventora came with a 3300 /202cu i 6 cylinder engine, Australia built the same, and so did Chevrolet. So much for GM cutting costs. The Ventora came with a 4 speed overdrive that allowed the car to sit on the open road at 2750rpm at 120kph. Top speed was recorded at just on 120mph, and the car was the same weight as the LJ Torana 6 but almost the same size as the HG Kingswood. Huge boot space for its class. The suspension was the same as the 4 cylinder LJ but beefed up to suit, the rear end was 4 link parallel trailing arms with Watts linkage. It handles very well on the road, much better than the 6 cyl Torana. The FD Victor/Ventoras were built in NZ and outperformed the XU-1 on the racetrack. Another very underrated Vauxhall vehicle.
