Morgul I don't know if we ever had the Wooden Dash in Aus, but I noted the doctor's wife's Herald in the show "Heartbeat" had a shiny wood dash and I was miffed that I never had that. I concede that the first model dashboards were cheap and nasty but my old man found a way to 'treat' them that made them more solid and better looking. I have driven many cars with vinyl dash tops that look pretty sad if exposed to sunlight for years. That's why I use Meguiars 'Classic Shine' or Bowden's Protectant that keeps the dash in my 56 year old Mustang looking like new.
