Back in the day, chrome was a cheap way to give a car "luxury look". But I think there's a "tipping point". Too little and a car looks cheap. Too much and it stands out as over wrought, and immediate comparisons are made with a 1958 Oldsmobile or 1959 Mercury. That said, I lean towards a "less is more" approach.
