Opening the gearbox was disappointing with bits of synchromesh rings to be seen in the sump. The gears looked good. One of my brothers came to the rescue with a box from an HX-WB. The insides were perfect. It was attached to a 186 that he is using in his HR Premier project. This box has a front oil seal that means that the box will not leak oil if the car is parked facing forward on a steep hill, unlike the earlier HQs. Of the four colours, the current order is March The 17th green(third from the left), Mustard and Chrome Yellow. Balmoral is out. Spray painting the pieces of foam was not my best work. The original ignition barrel was broken. I bought a new after-market set but the new ignition barrel fell apart. New ACDelco units can be sourced and mine arrived today. It is a much better product. It reminds me of why I prefer refurbishing old parts rather than buying new reproduction parts, when possible.
