I was working in the UK when the HQ was released, so it was about another two years until I saw them en-masse when I returned. My brother sent me these pics, and I couldn't believe how much better looking than the previous HK-T-G which I never liked in comparison with the XR to XY Falcons. Not knowing how big they were, I was comparing them with the other two GMs, namely the FE Vauxhall Victor and Opel Rekord D which I was seeing in abundance. I reckon we got the best of the non-US GMs and it stands up well against the smaller Chevs and Pontiacs of the day. Even though the Victor and Rekord are more LH Torana size, they are similar in looks to the HQ. The first HQ I ever saw was a white Statesman wafting down Park Lane which was difficult to catch in the Mini Ute I was driving. I later came across a parked blue Kingswood; they looked even better in the flesh than their photos. They still look just as good today, particularly a Premier in gold.
