Mercury Cougar wasn't a bad name. Lee Iacocca related a story of the Cougar's release in late 1966 involving live Cougars, which caused no end of mayhem. By the way, Bentley, those suggestions for the Edsel name were never taken seriously. They were the result of asking a poet, Marianne Moore to suggest some names for the new car. She came up with those ludicrous examples, such as Bullet Cloisonné, Andante Con Moto, Pastelogram and Intelligent Bullet, with no thought of them being used. She was quietly thanked, but the embarrassment came later when the names became public.
