Joe--i have no idea of compliance details,i didnt even think of those things in the day-i was only 18- to me its was only a car- i loved the color and in 1976 i bought a second hand XY GT same color- i asked the dealer has this car been in a crash and he replied no (as they do) and i said why does it have XW GT stripes on the bonnet (as XY stripes went all the way to front of bonnet !
