Another great forum topic, DrJohn. The Borgward Hansa 1500 was sold here from 1952 and in small numbers, judging from the price of £1495 or £1 per cc. I don't remember seeing too many but one ended up in a northern NSW wrecking yard. This brochure was printed by Australian National Motors who had showrooms in William Street Sydney. They were based in Stanmore in Sydney where they sold Lambrettas, MAN and Tempo trucks. By 1960 it looks like Kenneth Wright P/L were the concessionaires and Buckle Motors were the NSW distributors. Neighbours of ours got out of their VW Beetle and bought a Hansa 1100 wagon. It didn't last long, as they traded it in for a new lilac and white FB Holden wagon. It certainly lacked power and didn't stand up to our roads like their VW did.
