My 21-year-old car-mad son (MY2002) can't believe the amount of money people pay for Australian-made cars of the 1960-70s era, as he's obviously too young to have any nostalgic connection with them. However, he does find Ford/Holden Aussie muscle cars from the BA/VT era onwards pretty cool, because they're now in his 'nostalgia window' which is the way these things work across generations of enthusiasts. His favourite is the last of the Falcon muscle cars - the FG X XR8 Sprint - so there's hope that young Aussies will keep collecting 'Made in Australia' classics as they get older. They'll just be different to what's hot today.
