I have owned 3 Rx2's over the last 20 yrs after being hooked as a kid when Mum and Dad purchased a silver 4 door auto brand new in 1973. The lessons in resilience I learnt being the only kid in school flying the flag and vocally promoting the performance of this little car in an era when if your folks didn't have a Holden or Ford or even worse they drove "Jap Crap" you just had no credibility. Still when on the odd occasion as young bloke , the little Mazda laden with myself and a couple of mates in the back with Dad at the helm would line up a Targa Florio P76 or a HQ GTS and leave them in its wake with the sweet whirring of the rotary and the tacho buzzer singing harmoniously ,the next day my reputation would be bolstered when the legendary tale circulated the schoolyard. Nowadays I have an Rx2 coupe and an Rx7 track car and am whilst I appreciate a wide variety of marques and would love an air-cooled 911 or maybe a nice Sandman ute ,I will always be a Rotary man at heart .
