Studebaker were marketing Mercedes Benz in the US from about 1958 through to about 1962, so it's no wonder they thought about the Mercedes grille for the Lark. The '74 Pontiac looks like a mish-mash of Lincoln Continental and Rolls-Royce. Chrysler tried the same theme also in 1974..... Retro should be able to give us an explanation of why they started to adopt the Euro look.
