Thanks for the great piece Mark. The GT-Fours and their WRC achievements have been underappreciated in Australia for some time. Three drivers championships and two manufacturers championships in a row was a mighty achievement, but people still look at Subaru and Mitsubishi as the rally heroes of the 90's. Why do you think that is? The WRX and Evo road cars were certainly a lot more popular, but their WRC achievements were no better during that period. Maybe the cheating scandal with the ST205 also played a part? I have an ST185 GT-Four Group A Rallye and love it. It's still 100% original and I'm the second owner. In terms of performance it has nothing on more modern WRX/Evo/etc machinery, but it's a small piece of history that is such a joy to drive. Insured with Shannons of course!
