At 70 years of age I sometimes get a little confused as well. The article focussed on the 63 Race and so the Cortina GT 4 doors won that one. It was the mention of lightweight Cortina GT's which set me wondering as I had never heard of such cars, Ford imported CKD 2 door GT's in both 64 and again in 1965, thus creating in 1965 the Cortina GT500, which I have always considerd the first Bathurst Special, but would now concede that the EH S4 would take that title. Can we have a little more clarity or expansion on the term lightweight in reference to the Bathurst Cortina GT's. Love reading your articles and do you know of any deserving person who would like my collection ( fairly complete ) of Racing Car News as my kids will likely throw them in a skip after my departure. Pictured below is my old Cortina GT 2 door, also probably gone to God these days
