I've often wondered if Bill Bourke influenced my thinking about four-door GTs from an early age, because to me a four-door body configuration has always seemed more practical and better suited to the task of 'grand touring' than a two-door. I guess that comes from doing countless interstate road trips across this wide brown land of ours, which usually involved family and/or mates. There was always more than two people aboard, so the comfort and convenience of rear passengers having their own doors was greatly appreciated. The Falcon GT was only available as a two-door in the XA/XB models and they never sold as well as their sedan equivalents. From practical experience with both of these body types, I understand why. I'll never forget my brother's XA GT sedan - that really was the great Australian road car.
