Some of the dealers made limited edition versions of ordinary sedans, such as Etheridge in Melbourne marketing an Austin 1800 GT, which would have been a great Q-car. Phase Autos also in Melbourne turned the XD Falcon into a Phase 5 or HO. Ford's XA Falcon Superbird Hardtop was probably an attempt to boost sales, as was the 1976 Leyland Mini SS, the LS and indeed my own 1275LS are all special editions to help move stock - the 1275 was a run-out model and one of the best Minis you can buy after a Cooper S. Cars like the Mini Sunshine were farmed out to sunroof manufacturers as they would cause too much disruption on the assembly line.
