Yep, the all-aluminium Buick V8 enjoyed a long life outside of the US. I've driven several Rover V8s and have always been impressed with the alloy V8's compact dimensions and excellent performance. Another marque that springs to mind in this context is De Tomaso which ran Ford's 315cid Cleveland V8 in its Pantera for many years. Apparently when Ford US stopped production of the Clevo in the mid '70s De Tomaso started sourcing these engines from Ford Australia, which kept them supplied until that engine also ceased local production in 1982, so there's a strong Australian connection with these Italian cars.
