BMC promoted it as a his 'n hers - in the rather non PC style of the day; the boys could flick it through the gears while the girls just put it in Drive and let it do the work. They were rather fragile and as there wasn't a Park position, they fell foul of the ADR rules. Stirling Moss always preferred automatics over manuals for everyday driving, and BMC in the UK converted a Cooper S to auto for him.
