A ten year old VIP would not have been worth anything in the UK in 1977. Rust would have taken its toll and fuel prices after the Yom Kippur War in late 1973 put paid to big cars on the market. The only cars in those days which increased sales was the Mini and the Imp. I've mentioned this before, but at Sprinzels we had a guy trying to trade in his 3 year old Valiant in for a new Wolseley Six. He was offered about a quarter of its new price by us, apparently more than other places he tried. Valiants were part of our culture and heritage, but they meant nothing to the Brits, and not much more to the Americans for that matter.
