Judged purely as a car I'd like to look at often and drive occasionally, I'd prefer a Mustang to a Falcon GT. On a fleet note, I rmember looking after a very small one during the university long vacation (1969-70), as I accumulated the cash to swap my Mosman Blue FJ Special for a sexy black Jaguar Mark V. How much more exciting the sole XR Falcon was than any of the Holdens. The XR was when the Great Australian Road Car drove into view, with the XP Durability Run having opened up that possibility. In every sense, back then Ford Australia marketing was superior to Holden's. There was much more sizzle, and quite a lot more sausage, too.
