I have to admit that I gave up reading Wheels and Modern Motor by about 1990 for various reasons, but still treasure my collection of both magazines up till then from their respective start dates. My bias is showing here as it was the action cover shots from the '60s that I still love. The others are the scoop covers, particularly by Modern Motor including the famous FE on the assembly line. The HQ scoop is typical and represents a period so long gone, when magazines were our only source of information. They gave us that with more than a touch of excitement. Cars was a relatively short lived mag running from 1954 to 1957 and was mainly US based to start with, but gradually filled their pages with local content. The Customline issue was the first, and as can be seen has suffered over the years.
