hasbeen makes a good point with regards to other countries having higher speeds then here in OZ but they would be few anyway. If your choice and home address allows you to use an autobahn then fine, buy a car that can do a trillion miles per hour. But I would think that the vast majority of countries have about 110 kph as their limit. I was in a mates Mercedes SLK convertible. The windscreen is so raked that the top edge of the screen is almost over my head which removes the open air feeling altogether. The topless cars up until the latter part of the 20th century had much steeper rakes and therefore left you feeling more in the open air. I say, let's get back to windscreens that are more upright, bonnets that are flat with easily seen corners and flamboyant bonnet emblems again. Oh and yes, bring back the chrome. I remember reading a story about the leading Ford salesman in the US in the 60's. The customer was asking all sorts of technical questions about horsepower, breaking distance, torque etc. The salesman simply said; If you want answers to those questions I can take you to the service department for the answers. All I know is that when I travel down the highway at 55 mph with the top down and the wind in my hair, I feel like a king. He sold the car. We used to enjoy our cars for themselves but now it is all about features, technology and warranty times. They are no different to owning a washing machine these days. Once my new business takes off I can't see myself buying a new or even late model car. Unless of course it's a Maserati, Aston Martin or something similar and of course my beloved Bentley.
