The HQ is in the workshop for its restoration. Some panels will be unpicked to be replaced from new reproduction parts for a cheaper repair and better finish. They estimate that the car will be in there for three months as the semi-retired welder is not there every day. They know their old Holdens very well. At the end they will place the body on the chassis and do the underbody work such as the fuel filler pipe and handbrake cables which will make life easier for me. The welder suggested a big block Chev and a hole in the transmission tunnel for a floor shift. I am happy to keep the six but am thinking about a floor shift. I will still use the bench seat. I could keep the current 3 speed box or change to a 4 speed. I am not keen on custom components to run a five speed. Just another thought that may come to nothing.
