The image below captures the moment when Tetsu Ikuzawa (he was only 22 at the time) in one of the works-entered Skyline GTs led the winning Porsche 904 Carrera GTS for one glorious and audacious lap of the GT2 race at the 1964 Japanese GP meeting. The capacity (and rightly patriotic) 170,000-strong crowd at Suzuka went nuts! No surprise that the Skyline 2000 GT became a hero car after this. It's often credited as a pivotal moment in history when the Skyline performance legend was born.
