I guess the answer to this topic depends upon each person's scope of experience ... the last vehicle I drove that really impressed was an Audi R8 4.2 litre V8 with standard 6-speed stick-shift manual transmission ... yes, a modern 'supercar' with three pedals spread across the driver's floor ! ... it was back in 2009, not too long after the car's Australian introduction. What impressed was how easy it was to drive, with a simple layout of controls that suited an old-school bloke like me ... it made all the right noises and steered and braked with effortless aplomb, such that whatever misgivings I had about the car's appearance were fully cancelled out by the driving experience.
