Thanks for your input guys, some really interesting and funny anecdotes here. Another bold colour I remember was Ford's Wild Plum, which was included in the 1972 XA Falcon's colour charts. My brother owned an XA GT four-door in that colour (which is why I remember it) and although it's not as in-ya-face as Strike Me Pink, it came close and was typical of the many bold colour choices available in those days - particularly if you ordered it with a contrasting white interior!
