My Dad was a cattle buyer for a large meat works, and had a beaut big new company '49 Chev ute. We had no trouble fitting Dad, Mum, my Sister, me (I would have been 6), and a little dog in the front. Dad always wore a hat in the ute. It was traded on a new Standard model FJ Holden around 1953 of which he was terrified. I remember him saying he had a front sway bar fitted, a bonnet mascot, and accessory chrome rings fitted to the instrument panel. This greatly improved the car Ha Ha.
