"Chrysler used the Valiant front end and spend lots of money developing the huge rear window. That was the problem with the Barracuda when compared to the Mustang. It looked like a cheap Valiant with a big back window." DB, you have succinctly highlighted the Barracuda's birth defect. If they'd designed a new front clip to match the new rear window, it would have had much greater appeal both as a new car and collectable. The Tilley brothers used to race one in Historic touring cars (Group Nb) with a rev-happy 273cid V8 under the bonnet. I'll never forget being at their workshop on Sydney's northern beaches one afternoon and hearing that little 273 getting a work-out on the dyno. It sounded magnificent!
