Sad to hear of John's passing, freeway and thanks for this tribute to, as you say, a life well lived. I was amazed to read of John's achievements while researching a story for the Shannons Club on Sprites and Midgets. I was particularly impressed with his gallant efforts in the '68 London to Sydney Marathon driving that Midget, which was so small that the only place he could install a long-range fuel tank was on the roof. That must have done wonders for the handling! If not for that hub/wheel failure, who knows how high Sprinzel and Fidler could have finished. I found the image below of his broken car stranded in the Flinders Ranges. RIP Mr Sprinzel.
