Dr John, I also read recently that the 1960 full sized Fords were considered a one-off by Ford executives. Ford was so concerned that GM would continue to do do one year models, it moved quickly to make their 1960s seen as a one off, and then realised GM was back into the 2-3 year model cycle. Whilst the difference between the 1960 and 1961 Fords is not as radical as the GM's transition from 1958 to 1959, Ford stylists did make major changes to the body design which made the cars look very different.
