Pony: I'm still trying to get my head around the 'humungous' 540ci powerplant in that Charger you posted on the previous page. That's just shy of 9Lt (1Lt=61ci) and can only be an engine designed for Top Fuel Drag Racing. Check out this 540ci Torana in action: https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VeDUkACPUI I remember a 511ci quad cam Top Fuel engine being designed and built here in Australia by brothers Phil and Chris McGee in the 70's which they ran in the States. I later read that following its initial success the US drag racing fraternity moved to have the revolutionary new engine banned by the NHRA - thereby favouring the overwhelming acceptance of the more conventional Keith Black powerplant instead. In addition to the quad cam set-up, each bank of (4) cylinders was bolted to the 'saddle' - avoiding the need for whole block replacement. P.S. Here in Australia Phil McGee was well know throughout the motor racing fraternity for his Fuel Injection system. The last pic shows the system fitted to the 192ci Holden engine in my late 70's drag car.
