I have tried to restore this car as a period restoration/ modified car as we would have done in the early 1960's. Z Car is almost finished with minor tune to be completed. The car was painted in two pack inside and out over the completely restored body. The body was totally rust free, having lived in two sheds for 50 years in out back NSW. All chrome was replated including all diecast handles and badges. The seats are Triumph Stag with headrests removed. These were chosen as the Triumph was the same width as the Zephyr and the seats look proportional to the car. All the interior is retrimmed in leather, including door trims and arm rests. The seats were matched pleated and the carpet was done in an English plush pile of the period. Even the steering wheel was retrimmed in leather. The gearbox is an Escort 4 speed single rail 7000 series with short shifter. The 4 speed was chosen because in the early 60's we did not have 5 speed gearboxes. The engine is the original 2200cc Mk1 engine with a mild cam grind, balanced and triple 1 1/4 inch SU carbys fitted. The brakes are std with power booster fitted. Gauges are American Autometer. Wheels are American Racing 17x7 with spinners
