Mark, great story about racing Anglias. A small number of them raced on speedway tracks in the early to mid seventies. I went into my files and hauled out some old programs from the Heddon Greta and Motordrome tracks in Newcastle (1972-74) and there were usually two or three on any given night. They tended to be driven in the C and B grade events, because they never had enough horsepower to mix it with the top V8s. Hans Gyger fronted with one when Liverpool first went from dirt to pavement (July 1974) but did not see much success against the lightweight V8 Falcon Superbirds (like the one pictured driven by Bruce Maxwell) and 350 Monaros. The photo is of Hans hugging the inside line at Liverpool, (circa Nov/Dec '74) while some EJ Holdens go high and around him.
