i can remember a guy was servicing his white bongo van in his driveway. seat up and head in the engine area. i lived next door and i was interested with what he was doing. i went up his driveway and asked what he was doing? he said he was adjusting the tappets. he gave me the feeler gauges as he was doing the last one, as he had already done it, showed me how he was checking the gap between valve and rocker. he put things back in reverse order, then got me to fire it up. just like that i was hooked at fixing cars. he said if i didnt check that last adjustment, the car wouldnt have run as good. talk about a confidence boost. i was recently looking for an A-100 dodge van not long ago as i remember the day i was a bongo van technician.
