This year, the championship is comprised of seven-events, and is also the first season in which the category is being controlled by SRO, under the guise of SRO Motorsports Australia.

The highly anticipated round boasts 17 entries lining up to take starters orders, with numerous high-profile drivers from various categories including the Repco Supercars Championship.

Shannons Insurance National Manager Business Development, Simon Jreige, spoke enthusiastically of the partnership announcement.

"Shannons Insurance is proud to support SRO Australia and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS for the 2024 season," said Jreige.

"It is fantastic to see so many high-profile brands of cars, teams and drivers competing in the championship. From Ferrari to Mercedes AMG, the might of Triple Eight and professional drivers like Chaz Mostert, Will Brown and of course Liam Talbot who steered the Shannons Audi to take out the 2023 Championship. This is a racing category with something for everybody.

"The association with a category of motorsport that is prestigious and globally-recognised like Fanatec GT fits with our brand and we are looking forward to the season ahead.

One of the most talked about stories heading into Phillip Island is the pair of Ferrari 296 GT3s freshly imported from Italy by Perth-based Arise Racing, with Talbot sharing one of these two unique Italian thoroughbreds with Chaz Mostert. Jaxon Evans meanwhile shares the other Ferrari with Elliott Schutte.

Will Brown lines up in an Audi R8 LMS Evo 2 that he shares with Brad Schumacher. Former FIA Formula 3 racer Alex Peroni will make his Australian GT debut in an Audi, co-driving with Mark Rosser.

Race Phillip Island and Round 3 of the Shannons SpeedSeries will be telecast on the 7Plus streaming platform. Select races across the entire schedule will also be broadcast on free-to-air channel 7Mate, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
