Australia’s premier automotive event, Motorclassica, is set to be staged at Melbourne’s magnificent 19th century Royal Exhibition Building again this year, over the 23-25 October 2015 weekend. Now entering its sixth consecutive year and firmly established as this country’s only internationally-significant exhibition of rare and exotic, historic, vintage, veteran, classic and collectable cars and motorcycles, Motorclassica has some exciting plans for 2015. 

“Supercars feature heavily among the interests of all car enthusiasts, so at Motorclassica 2015 we’ll be celebrating 50 years of Supercars which began with the legendary Lamborghini Miura,” Paul Mathers, Motorclassica Event Director said.

“Added to that special display will be another centred on Ferrari, celebrating 50 years of the beautiful Dino.

“For the bike enthusiasts, we’ll be marking 70 years of the Italian marque MV Augusta and also recognising some local heritage by celebrating 50 years of the Bugatti Owners Club in Australia, with another dedicated display.”

Motorclassica 2015 will feature more than 100 cars and 50 motorcycles displayed throughout the historic halls of the Royal Exhibition Building, with a further 200 or more each day over the weekend in the Club Sandwich car club displays proudly supported by Lorbek Luxury Cars.

And select contemporary manufacturers will be back too, with a number of brands keen to return to Motorclassica to highlight their heritage while displaying their latest products.

“Motorclassica is such a unique event … it’s about celebrating the automotive lifestyle and the passion of those who participate. But it’s also a platform for modern car and bike manufacturers to demonstrate the heritage and passion of their brands. “There is simply nothing like Motorclassica in Australia and that’s why it’s recognised as our premier event internationally, and why it continues to succeed while many automotive exhibitions here don’t.”

It wouldn’t be Motorclassica without the annual Australian International Concours d’Elegance, recognising the best of the best in a number of event categories with a trophy that’s a highly sought-after prize in the collector car and motorcycle world.

Motorclassica 2015 will kick off, as usual, with another unique aspect of this automotive extravaganza: Tour Classica. Tour Classica will see select Motorclassica exhibits drive in convoy through the streets of Melbourne’s CBD on Thursday morning (22 October) prior to taking up residence at the Royal Exhibition Building, a spectacular and unique start to this amazing event.

Also on the Motorclassica program will be the annual Collector Car & Memorabilia Auction, which is expected to feature over 100 lots of automotive ephemera and around 30 classic cars and motorcycles. Shannons National Auctions Manager - Christophe Boribon has been invited to take part in a panel at Motorclassica discussing “Investing in Classic Cars” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12.30pm on the main stage.
