17 'No Reserve' vehicles on offer
Eclectic mix of performance and quirky classics

Enthusiasts hoping to snap up a bargain will be bringing their dreams and wallets to Shannons Melbourne Spring Auction on Monday September 12, where 17 of the 40 classic car and motorcycle lots are being offered with no reserve.

Performance car enthusiasts are faced with an interesting choice of three very different Ford V8-powered vehicles - an Australian-built 1997 Cobra Replica roadster, a 1967 right hand drive Ford Mustang Coupe and a 1971 Falcon XY 'GT Replica' Ute.

Shannons expect the 'Cobra' to bring $28,000-$34,000, the Mustang to make $18,000-$24,000 and the XY Ute to sell for $14,000-$20,000.

Plus for Mopar enthusiasts there is a very stylish 'no reserve' right hand drive 1958 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer Hardtop Coupe ($12,000-$16,000).

As a higher-tech four-wheel drive alternative, Shannons have a 'no reserve' 1999 Subaru Impreza WRX that has had a documented $84,000 spent on its performance upgrades and is expected to bring a similar price to the Falcon Ute - $15,000-$20,000.

Enthusiasts wanting a rare and classy European classic will be interested in the 1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 1 2+2 'Project' Coupe ($15,000-$20,000), the metallic gold 1973 Volvo P1800ES Estate Wagon ($10,000-$15,000) and a 1983 BMW 635CSi 'JPS' Coupe ($8,000-$12,000).

Meanwhile those after 'quirky classics' will focus on the 'suicide door' 1960 Fiat 500 Nuova 'Bambino' Coupe ($3,000-$6,000), or the appealing very low kilometre two-tone grey 1988 model Citroen 2CV6 Charleston sedan ($12,000-$18,000).

Other 'no reserve' cars expected to attract vigorous bidding include the 1927 Morris Cowley Van that appeared as a prop in the television series 'The Sullivans' (complete with 'Snake Gully Groceries' sign-writing), a very original 1955 Holden FJ Standard Sedan ($12,000-$16,000) and a 1979 Mercedes-Benz 2870SEL Saloon ($2,500-$4,000).

Four of the seven classic motorcycles in the September 12 auction are also being offered with no reserve.

These include a brace of early Harley-Davidsons - a 1924 JD Model 1200cc single offered in 'Project' condition ($7,000 - $10,000) and a very rare and sought-after 1930 C Model 500cc Single ($5,000-$10,000).

Also being sold with no reserve are a 1972 Bultaco Sherpa Trials motorcycle - which has now become a sought-after classic amongst Vintage Motocross enthusiasts ($1,500-$3,000) - and a 1967 BSA B40 Scrambler 350cc ($1,500-$2,5000).
