History
Last year of Series 1 LR, AU assembly, used to be a fire engine in QLD. Required full restoration, which was done mostly during the pandemic and lock-down periods, helping maintain sanity. Unfortunately the engine isn't the original one as it was replaced back in the 60th to an early version of 2.25 motor with a Solex carby. I considered replacing it and even sourced a period correct engine, however this unit runs so well (people say it's V8 and LR 4 cyl 2.25 which are the best sounding engines in the world) that I decided to leave it. it drives exceptionally, especially since installing the Roamer over-drive. Really helps to keep up with the traffic and can do 90-100km/h no worries, which is lightning fast for this car. The colour is called "cockpit green" which was exactly the same colour as what was used by Brits to paint war planes inside the fuselage. Legend tells that there was a great surplus of this paint after the war which is the colour LR used on all early S1s. The well known "Bronze Green" came much later. Besides the engine, the vehicle is 95% original, including the early set of wipers and 6v semaphores correctly installed.
