When your Brough Superior heads are worn out or the cooling ribs are broken you make some new ones.

This is a foundry pattern that I made to reproduce some heads. The half head in the box is half of the pattern with the extra bits attached being a runner and a feeder. The sand that goes in the box is resin coated and goes hard like concrete two halves are made then removed to be assembled with a standard core made of this same sand and glued together. The completed mould is glued together and set on its end and the molten matal poured into the mould. The pattern is made with a contraction allowance as the metal shrinks as it cools and machining allowance also added. The runners are cut off then the part is machined to size.
