History
This car was prepared by my husband and his mates with the financial support of Hyundai Motor Company Australia. It was prepared to compete in the Australian Rally Championship in the ecoRally class, with Mick Gillett driving and Harvey Smith (my husband) navigating. They subsequently won the 2010 Australian Rally Championship ecoRally class (not much competition) but also the P4 Class up against Commodores and the like. The car was retired from Australian Rally Championship service in 2011 when Hyundai ceased to support the programme. The car was then purchased by the Gillett family and us (Smith family) and resides in our shed and comes out when any of us get the urge to go rallying cheaply. This car is a diesel and can easily run an entire rally on less than a tank of fuel. :) The photo (taken by Kelly Wannop) is of me driving the car to 2nd outright in the annual Rallye des Femmes when it was last held in 2012.
