The Austrailian Karting Championship brings the best drivers from around the country, all competing for the coverted Aus No1. Emerson is competing in the KA12 series for kids up to 12 years of age.

With 38 entries in the KA12 class, it was always going to be a tough field & qualifing in the top 10 was crucial.

Emerson qualified 9th overall.

Heat 1, started 9th, finished 7th.

Heat 2, started 9th, finished 3rd.

Heat 3, started 9th, finished 6th.

With all the points from the heats calculated, Emerson would start out of postition 4 in the final, with a real shot of an awesome finish.

When lights went green Emerson got a good start and held on to 4th spot, the race was just starting to settle down when a driver went in to the tyres bringing out the red flag stopping the race. After a short stoppage the race was restarted, a big move into turn 1 saw the 48 kart into the sandtrap and out of the race. Emerson is now in 3rd & 4 karts had moved away from the 38 strong field.

On lap 5 Emerson makes his move into the lead of the race and starts to pull a small gap, the 3 boys behind are swapping postions every lap.

With 3 laps to go Emerson drops back to 3rd, it's a very exciting race, 2 laps to go, kart 34 makes a move on the lead, there's a touch, Emerson retakes the lead of the race, going on to win.

A really fantastic race weekend for our team, Emerson didn't make any mistakes all weekend, this is the key when the 38 strong field was covered by less than 1 second.

Lot's of work to do with 4 rounds remaining and we are looking forward to round 2 at Monarto in South Australia.
