Race Report

Australian Karting Championships Round 4 – Emerald QLD - KA2

Looking forward to some warm weather & the fastest track on the calendar.

Qualifying; After being 3rd fastest in practice we were looking for a strong result, however an engine gremlin struck causing loss of power, lucky to grab 14th place on the grid.

Heat 1; The part we changed on the engine wasn’t the problem after moving up to 8th Emerson dropped back to 13th.

Heat 2; Engine change, which sorted the problem & a fantastic drive from 14th to 5th giving us a chance to run up front again.

Heat 3; Another stellar drive by Emerson showing he can run up the front, making his way to 6th.

Heat 4; Heat 4 start was busy, karts going every which way, this time it was harder to get through with drivers blocking to hold their position but a very respectable 9th giving the Shannons driver good points for the final.

Final; Starting from P7 on the fast Emerald track, Emerson said, “if I can get a clean start I can run with the leaders”. Heaps of jostling at the start gave the leaders some breathing room but it was on for 3rd onwards, after losing 3 positions of the start Emerson had to dig deep and fight back to 5th. He was pretty happy with the results in a very hard fought race.

Sitting just outside the top 10 in Australia, a good result could cement a top 5 at the last round.
