Modifications
FE had rust in front sub frame, so dismantled and rebuilt, AP5 rebuilt and hotted up engine and repainted, XY mild hot up, exhaust, wheels and tires, HQ Van, enormous amount of work went into this one, new heavy duty(lowered) suspension, upgraded brakes, engine rebuilt and heavily modified, drag raced at Ravenswood(now defunct)Raceway for many seasons, also did the interior(the whole van scene and all)and won many shows, collected many trophies, never quite made up for the huge amount of work and money that I poured into this one, '68 Impala totally stripped this one, right down to the body off the chassis and every single part was completely stripped down to the last nut and bolt, sat the body on its side on some old tyres and chiselled and mini sandblasted the entire floor pan of under body tar and paint, also did chassis and all the suspension parts(this took a hell of a long time as the sand blaster was a hand held pot(like a spray paint gun)and a very narrow blast line, rebuilt absolutely every thing, all new suspension bushes(had to make dies to press out old bush and press in new ones)replaced all the body to chassis rubber mounts bar the front two(not available anywhere) so made these including machining steel bushes and mounting plates, rebuilt engine/trans/diff/steering/brakes/suspension and any other parts I could get my grubby paws on, two pack blacked the under side and all the chassis and suspension, repainted whole car completely different colour, re chromed all the chrome work, polished all the stainless trim, had vinyl top fitted(huge mistake)then put it all back together again, all in my shed at home(small country town WA)(except paint and vinyl top) paint was a huge let down, in hind sight(yep, that sight)I should have painted the b****** thing myself at worst would have had to redo it, drove it around for a few years(totally trouble free)damn it was so nice to drive, it performed faultlessly, was heart broken to see it go(crappy divorce).
