About

Welcome to the MX-5 Club of Qld In 2020 the MX-5 Club of Queensland celebrated its 30th year. The Club has over 220 “cars” as members and is constantly growing. Club activities are as diverse as the interests of our members and include social, technical, and motor sport events. Our activities combine a variety of motorsport events and social drives, social dining, driver training, picnics, and weekends away, all with people who enjoy driving their MX-5s. Currently the Club has four regional Chapters (Brisbane, Darling Downs, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast). Each Chapter holds a social run once every month, providing an opportunity for members to attend a run almost every Sunday from Feb to Nov each year. Runs are normally held in the morning, stopping for morning tea and then lunch at the destination. Members are encouraged to attend any Chapters’ run that they wish. This is a great opportunity to catch up with and meet members from across the Club. The Club has an active Motorsport Chapter which runs events for the seriously minded motorsports members as well as providing track opportunities, such as Happy Laps and Skidpan days, for the less competitive of us. The Club competes in the annual Inter Club Challenge involving a variety of competition events. Members also have the opportunity to compete in track events conducted by other car clubs at an affordable cost. Every second year, the MX5 Clubs across Australia join for ‘NatMeet’, a five day national meeting of the clubs. The next national meeting, NatMeet XV, will be in 2024, in the Toowoomba region and will be hosted by our club. It is expected that over 100 cars from across Australia will come together to celebrate their enjoyment of this wonderful little car. Every ‘other year’ our members gather for Q-Meet. With the cancellation of NatMeet XIV, the Club will hold a Q-Meet 28 to 31 July 2023 in the Kingaroy/Gympie region. WHY JOIN THE MX-5 CLUB OF QLD? We have members who range in age from early 20’s to late 70’s whose interests vary greatly covering social, technical, and competition! Consequently, there are many club members to whom you will immediately relate to. The Club’s magazine “Rag-Top Review” is published four times each year and contains all the goings-on within the Club and the latest information about the MX-5 from Australia and around the world.
