Shannons Insurance will this weekend support third generation racer Clay Richards, driver of the Carl Cox Motorsport Cupra Leon competing in Round 3 of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia series.

TCR Australia is the headline act for Round 3 of the Shannons SpeedSeries, named to honour and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang.

Richards enters this weekend P5 in the TCR Australia Series standings, thanks to competitive outings in Rounds 1 and 2 at Sandown and Symmons Plains respectively. The hunt for the series lead is close, with just 25-points splitting the Top 6.

In preparation for this weekend, Richards has been working late into the night with his father, Steven, to ensure they are in the best possible shape for competition.

"It’s great to announce Shannons Insurance back onboard supporting us this weekend." Said Richards.

"It’s been a pretty busy few weeks leading up to the event but all the hard work has been worth it."

"Dad [Steven] and I have spent most of our nights after work at Melbourne Performance Centre getting the car tidied up with some new stickers and general maintenance before this weekend."

"After our successful campaign in Tasmania at the last round we’re right in the hunt coming into this weekend."

The Richards family and Shannons Insurance enjoy a long and storied history, with Shannons supporting Jim, Steven and Clay and their racing efforts for more than 20 years. Shannons have also proudly partnered Clay throughout his junior racing career in Formula Ford and Toyota 86s.

The Carl Cox Motorsport Cupra tasted success at Phillip Island last season, scoring victory in Race 2.

The Ford Mustang 60 Years Race Phillip Island event will be televised on the 7Plus streaming platform, with Race 1 on Saturday also broadcast live on free-to-air channel 7Mate.
