Emerson comes to aid of competitor during race accident

By Shannons - 27 June 2017

During a race at Port Melbourne, a young competitor and friend of Emerson crashed and was trapped under his kart. With the engine still running, the wheels of his kart just millimetres away from the young driver and fuel leaking everywhere, Emerson stopped his kart ran over and calmly switched off the motor and threw the kart off his friend, saving what could have been a serious incident.

Friends and families were very proud of this selfless act by Emerson whose only concern was for his friend Mateo. An ambulance transported Mateo to the hospital, and he later returned to the track with plaster on his fractured wrist.

Well done Emerson!

Australian Karting Championship Round 3 – Monarto SA.

Shannons backed driver Emerson Harvey experiences the highs & lows of motorsport as mechanical gremlins strike at Australian Karting Championship in SA.

Managing a starting position of 13th for the final which was not too bad considering the ups & downs over the weekend. The start was frantic & Emerson was tagged heavily from the rear putting him off the track. After quickly rejoining the pack, it began to sprinkle with rain, and Emerson was putting in some great laps moving up to 12th. "With the lead pack in sight, we then heard a misfire & Emerson started to lose positions, dropping to 15th. Later we found that the engines coil had failed" said Emerson's father Gavin Harvey.

The Championship moves on to Emerald in Far North Queensland and Emerson is determined to turn around a run of bad luck.
