With the departure of local Holden production in 2017, no one really knows what fate will befall its iconic and much-loved tuning brand Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), but if its days improving Holdens are numbered then it will go out with a 430kW bang and in spectacular Australian style.

For the first time in the company’s 27-year history, its incendiary GTS flagship will be available in the most Australian of body-styles – the ute.

Officially named the HSV GTS Maloo, the 430kW/740Nm hyper-ute will be strictly limited to just 250 vehicles with 10 of those crossing the ditch to New Zealand, but that number was originally only going to be 165 if it wasn’t for a bittersweet information leak.
