Round 8 of the Go Kart Club of Victoria Club Championship was held at the Port Melbourne track on the weekend. Debuting in his new Shannons-backed FA Kart Emerson Harvey, grandson of Holden legend John Harvey, was excited to hit the track in his new colours.

Grid positions for the first 2 heats were computer drawn and the highest point scorer takes pole for the final.

Heat 1 saw Emerson start from 6th in the 10 lap race around the challenging Port Melbourne facility. He got away to a good start making up 4 positions into turn 1. Championship rival & good friend Kacey Mann held the lead until lap 3 when Emerson made a decisive move to take the lead and go on to win.

Starting out of 5th in heat 2 the Shannons-backed kart moved into 3rd and a five kart battle continued for the 10 lap journey. With the lead changing several times per lap, Emerson held onto on to 3rd before seizing the opportunity to take the lead on lap 8 and go on to win by a nose from Hugh Barter.

Pole position for the final after 2 heat wins, Emerson was side by side with Kacey Mann into turn 1 and came out in the lead. Some fast laps saw him gain a small margin for the 12 lap race. 2nd to 5th was a huge battle with positions swapping lap after lap, all the time Emerson was extending his lead. The chequered flag waved for Emerson making it 3 from 3 for the day and extending his lead in the club championship.
